Early in the morning we meet in front of the Galapagosliving office in Puerto Ayora.
Cerro Mesa
First it goes by bus to Bellavista. The journey takes about 20 minutes. From there it goes by bike (40 min.) To the "Área Ecológica Cerro Mesa". The reserve is home to unique flora and fauna and a lake landscape that is home to many endemic animal species. From the 360-degree viewpoint you have a breathtaking view of the surrounding islands.
Garrapatero
El Garrapatero beach is about 19 km northeast of Puerto Ayora. On the bike it goes from Cerro Mesa El Cascajo, and then to El Garrapatero. The journey takes about 50 minutes. Then it is another 10 minutes' walk to the beach, where you can observe numerous endemic plants and many species of birds. El Garrapatero is a gorgeous 1,500 meter long beach with turquoise-blue, crystal clear water and white sand - a secluded paradise for nature lovers. In the forest next to the beach you will find numerous endemic plants such as the "Palo santo", cacti, "chala", "algarrobo" and muyuyo, hawthorn. You can also watch flamingos and many birds here.
